Highlights from St. Thomas, USVI

Our recent trip to St. Thomas was magical for so many reasons. Throughout the week we celebrated my brother’s birthday, Autumn and I’s 5 year anniversary, and my sister’s engagement! The weather was gorgeous, our villa had a breathtaking view, and the beaches were everything we’d hoped for. It was great to forget about work for a week and just enjoy each other’s company.

The first highlight of our trip was Cinnamon Bay Beach on St. John. Only a 15-minute ferry ride from Red Hook, St. John was our first up-close experience with the gatorade-blue water of the Virgin Islands. Since much of St. John is protected, this beach made you feel like you were on a (mostly) deserted island. It was the perfect setting for my sister to get engaged! We spent the day snorkeling, getting our first of several sunburns, and celebrating the newly engaged couple. This was a love-filled day in the sun; it was hands down my favorite beach and memory from the Virgin Islands. When we inevitably return to the Virgin Islands, I would prefer to stay on St. John since it seems much cleaner and more preserved than St. Thomas.

Admission: Free!

Amenities: bathrooms, food/drinks, rental snorkel gear and chairs

There is a lot of aquatic activity in the reefs just off-shore, so snorkeling is  a must!

The second highlight of our trip was the Bad Kitty 4-island tour of the British Virgin Islands. As i’m typing this I realize I have too much to say for this eventful day. This day trip deserves it’s own entry, so be on the lookout for an upcoming blog about our day of island hopping!

The final highlight of the trip was our villa. This secluded 6-bedroom dream home is set in the hills near Red Hook/Coki Beach. It has a stunning view of the ocean and surrounding islands which you can enjoy from the infinity pool. It is in the perfect location to have a picturesque sunrise with your coffee, which we took advantage of every morning. This was the perfect place to get away from the crowds.

Although it is priced at a little over $1,000/night, it is much more economical than a resort if you are staying with a large group. This fully-stocked villa would comfortably sleep 14. We booked the Peace of Mind Villa through VRBO and highly recommend it to big families.
